      In today’s corporate world, everyone knows the word ‘Accountability’.       The meaning of accountability is that the person who has the responsibility of the work, who has the responsibility of getting the work done properly and too within the stipulated time, who is answerable. Many people are scared of this word because if any mistake happens then the blame will be on them hence they take this word negatively.
      Many people say that if any mistake happens then they are not the only responsible person for the same and if anything good is happening then it is because of them only.
      In many organisations, there are many tasks for which the responsibilities are not only on one person so even though any mistake happens then no one is responsible for that and if the work is done then everyone claims the success. Every work that is undertaken in the company then the responsibility of the same should be given to someone, in the meetings people do say that we should do this, we should do that, it is important to do this thing for us, it does mean that it is not yet decided who will be doing that particular task hence the responsibility is also not yet handed over to anyone or the manager will be doing that work or the businessman conducting the meeting will undertake the work, this is called ‘Reverse Delegation’. It also means responsibility shared means no responsibility.
      Many managers think that the word ‘Accountability’ should be used to control people or to gain control over people. In fact the word ‘Accountability’ should be used to have control over our work and the success that we get.
